Kim's Story

In 1987, my parents moved us from upstate NY to East Brunswick to be closer to NYC where my dad worked and also for the great school system. I am a proud 1994 EBHS alumni.

After starting my own family my husband and I decided to plant our roots in East Brunswick as well. My oldest child went through the EB school system. She was involved in orchestra, girls varsity tennis team and graduated in 2016 to move onto Rutgers University for her BFA and Columbia University for her MFA. My son is entering 8th grade at Churchill Junior HS and is involved in Jazz and Marching band, and my youngest with special needs is entering 4th grade, and continues to thrive in his self-contained classroom instruction where he works in a smaller group on his individual learning needs combined with general education exposure. Working closely with the administration and his team of teachers to continue his success in the school system has really driven me to run for the Board of Ed to advocate for all children and teachers in EB to have a successful experience in the school system. I have a multitude of experiences across differing interests and needs of my three children which provide me a broad perspective that will enable me to drive positive change.

I have always looked towards making a positive impact in the community. This led me to be an active PTA member serving alongside teachers and administration and a community volunteer for several years in various capacities working with community and business leaders. As President of the East Brunswick Arts Coalition, I led the creation and installation of the outdoor butterflies created by EB residents to bring artistry to our public spaces most notably at the Library, Great Oak Park, and the EB Community Arts Center. I broke barriers and started successful East Brunswick events such as the EB Lunar New Year celebrations, Harvest Fest, and the EB Market. I’m always looking to raise the bar in East Brunswick’s community and schools.

With my experience as a mom, a PTA member/SEPAG Liaison, East Brunswick Arts Coalition President and board-member of several other organizations, I have the experience to be a strong advocate for our students and teachers.

Recently the school district has faced challenges and made tough decisions. These are challenges that cannot be resolved overnight but overtime we can get there if we plan and set goals. I have the experience, independent perspective, and drive to meet these challenges with our children and teachers’ best interest in mind.

Given the opportunity, my priorities will be:
- To ensure the children receive the best education to prepare them for their future
- Uphold accountability
- Provide clarity and transparency in communication with the community

East Brunswick has a long standing reputation of providing best in class education. Together we can build on this legacy so that our children can have the tools they need to ensure their brightest future.
